Threads 4 Thought was built on the belief that fashion can be a force for good: comfortable everyday clothing, made ethically and sourced responsibly.
The story
Leigh and Eric Fleet started Threads 4 Thought in New York in 2006 with a line of responsibly made graphic tees. The husband-and-wife team still runs the brand, which now designs its clothing in Los Angeles.
Production runs through two partner factories that the brand identifies by location. One, in Pakistan, has operated since 1994 and employs about 200 people; the other, in Weihai, China, employs about 140. Both hold WRAP certification, and the Pakistan factory also lists BSCI, SEDEX and OEKO-TEX among its credentials.
Threads 4 Thought says it works with its suppliers so that living wages are paid through its supply chain, using third-party agencies and its own code of conduct to check. The factory certifications cover working conditions; the living wage commitment is the brand's own, and it doesn't publish wage figures.
