Reistor sets out to make comfortable everyday clothing in a more mindful way, from natural fibers and with steady, fairly paid work for women.

The story

Reistor was founded by Mehma Singh and her brother, Harjas, fourth-generation entrepreneurs from a family that has worked in textiles for more than 70 years. The brand describes itself as woman-owned.

Half of Reistor's garments are made at community centers run by nonprofit organizations. One is Srujna, a Mumbai nonprofit that trains women from underserved communities; Reistor bought sewing machines and hired trainers there so women could build skills and earn a steady income.

Reistor works in hemp, organic cotton, linen and TENCEL™, says its dyes are OEKO-TEX and bluesign approved, and runs a solar installation at its facility. It doesn't hold a fair trade certification. The Labour Movement vetted it against our fair trade standards before listing it.
