Shakti.ism exists to empower, train and employ women from disadvantaged communities in India, Bangladesh and Nepal.

The story

Shakti.ism is a not-for-profit social enterprise registered in England as a community interest company. Its products are designed in the UK and the Netherlands.

Women in India, Bangladesh and Nepal make the range by hand, using upcycled sari fabric, khadi cotton, vintage kantha quilts, glass beads and hand-carved wooden printing blocks. Purchases support a fair living wage.

Shakti.ism is verified by People and Planet First, which checks whole businesses against its standards for social enterprises. That isn't a fair trade label on its own, so The Labour Movement also vetted Shakti.ism against our fair trade standards before listing it.
