Gimme! Coffee's worker-owners choose together to invest in ethical sourcing, their craft and a living wage.
The story
Gimme! Coffee started in Ithaca, New York, in 2000 and was re-established in 2022 as Gimme Coffee Cooperative, owned by its workers. It runs cafés in Ithaca and a wholesale roasting business.
Its worker-owners decide together how to invest in sourcing and craft, and the company has committed to paying a certified living wage.
Some of Gimme's coffees are Fairtrade certified, such as its Ethiopia SCFCU, from the Sidama Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union. Fairtrade certification guarantees farmers a Fairtrade Minimum Price and a Fairtrade Premium on top.
