The story

Mark and Mel Glenn founded Conscious Coffees in 1996 in Breckenridge, Colorado, as a wholesale roaster. The company is now based in Boulder and has been a Certified B Corporation since 2014.

Conscious Coffees buys certified organic coffee from growers in Africa, Asia and Latin America and builds long-term relationships with specific communities. Its coffees on The Labour Movement come from Ethiopia, Honduras, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sumatra, Nicaragua, Mexico and Guatemala.

The company has described its model as direct trade, cutting out middlemen so more of the price reaches growers. Conscious Coffees is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.
