Soothe Beginnings designs pacifiers around safety and less waste: reusable shields, swappable nipples and testing on every batch.

The story

Lindsay deOliveira founded Soothe Beginnings in Columbus, Georgia, after struggling to find a pacifier her daughter would take. A drawer full of pacifiers that didn't work, or had design flaws, became the starting point.

Each starter kit pairs one reusable shield with three swappable nipples in nursing, standard and orthodontic shapes, so parents can find the one their baby accepts. The nipples are medical-grade silicone. The shields are Richlite, a paper and resin composite, or polypropylene in the Flex line.

The pacifiers are made in the United States and batch-tested, including for PFAS. deOliveira serves on two international pacifier safety subcommittees.

About Soothe Beginnings

Is Soothe Beginnings fair trade?

Soothe Beginnings doesn't hold a fair trade certification. Its pacifiers are made in the United States, and The Labour Movement vetted the brand against our fair trade standards before listing it. We review every brand each year.

Why does the kit come with three nipple shapes?

Babies have preferences. The kit includes nursing, standard and orthodontic shapes so you can find the one your baby takes, then buy replacements in that shape.

What is Richlite?

A dense, durable composite made from paper and resin. Soothe Beginnings uses it for its original pacifier shields.
