The story

Maison d'Haiti, French for 'House of Haiti,' is the brand of the Artisanat Cooperative run by Haiti Projects, a nonprofit working with women in rural Haiti.

Nearly 100 women make each piece from start to finish, embroidering and knitting tea towels, nightgowns, aprons and baby clothes. Artisans and staff report average income increases of more than 250% after joining, and artisans earn on average 262% more than Haiti's national minimum wage.

All proceeds from sales go to supporting the artisans, and Haiti Projects also runs a women's health clinic and a community library. Maison d'Haiti has been a member of the Fair Trade Federation since 2012 and renews its verification every year.
