Amasouk supports artisans in their home communities, pairing traditional weaving, embroidery and leatherwork with modern design and paying makers fairly.

The story

Amasouk is a Denver-based brand that works with artisans in Morocco, Mexico, Peru and Japan. Its team travels each year to meet the makers.

Pieces combine traditional weaving, embroidery and leatherwork with modern design. Some are hand-dyed, dipped and stitched together by a single artisan, and some use upcycled fabrics.

Amasouk says each maker is fairly paid, and selling directly online lets it keep prices below those of traditional boutiques. It is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.
